Important Messages for Graduating Students in 2nd term 2024-25 |
Dear Students, |
According to the expected graduation term (EYG) under CUSIS, you are expected to graduate in 2nd term 2024-25. In this connection, please take note of the following and take appropriate action(s), if necessary. For detailed information and the related application forms, please refer to “Important Information for Graduating Students in 2nd term 2024-25” under the RES homepage.
1. |
Check Course Fulfillment for Graduation |
Please run the “Academic Advisement Report” under CUSIS (select “Academic Progress” > “My Academic Requirements”) to check if you have any outstanding requirements for graduation. Except for some major/ minor programmes with specific requirements (please refer to the list of programmes under “Important Information for Graduating Students in 2nd term 2024-25” of the RES homepage), the report generated by CUSIS may serve as a general reference whether a student has fulfilled all the requirements for graduation. Students should always refer to the updated study schemes of individual programmes and the relevant regulations applicable to their studies which are available at the Undergraduate Student Handbook of the Academic and Quality Section of the Registry in checking their graduation fulfillment. |
RES will conduct graduation check on course fulfillment for graduating students in 2nd term 2024-25. Students with unfulfilled requirements will receive a notification by email from RES around early May 2025 stating the outstanding graduation requirements. Students who fail to declare the concentration/stream required by their major study scheme by the specified deadline (see point 3 below) will also receive the above notification.
2. |

Declare Concentration/ Stream |
Application period under CUSIS: 3 – 28 February 2025 |

Course Substitution and Course Exemption |
Deadline for form submission: 2 May 2025 |
Students should follow the study schemes specified in the Undergraduate Student Handbook for fulfillment of graduation requirements. However, under special circumstances as listed below, students will need to submit the relevant application form (which can be downloaded from the RES homepage) for approval by the relevant departments. RES will update relevant students’ status of fulfillment of graduation requirements under CUSIS after approval from departments is given. |
a. |
Course Substitution: For students who cannot take the specified course in the major/ minor study scheme and need to use another relevant course to substitute for that course, they should complete the form “Application for Course Substitution of Major/ Minor Course” and seek approval from the relevant departments. |
b. | Course Exemption of Required Course(s): For students who have been approved for course exemption for the required major/minor course (i.e., not including major/minor elective course), they should complete the form “Application for using Other Course to Fulfil Required Major/Minor Unit Requirement” to seek approval from the relevant departments to make up for the major/minor required course units as stated in the study scheme.
6. |
Check Major GPA and Major Upper GPA |
Students can also check their updated Major GPA and Major Upper GPA in the “Academic Advisement Report” under CUSIS after the release of 2nd term academic results. Please refer to Regulations relating to graduation under the Undergraduate Student Handbook in checking graduation requirements. Please be reminded that the “Academic Advisement Report” generated by CUSIS only serves as a general reference. System logic on checking fulfillment and other technical issues may affect the accuracy of the report. Besides, course exemptions or requirements stipulated for individual students (e.g. course substitution approved for certain students) may also affect the results. Therefore, the results of graduation assessment performed by the University shall be regarded as FINAL. |
