For Year 3 Students admitted in 2023-24
The following table is a summary of the requirements for the University Core Requirements for students admitted in 2022-23 and thereafter. Except specified programmes / students who are granted exemptions by attainment or by equivalence of courses, all students have to complete the requirements for graduation according to the study schemes as recommended by the Departments and Major Programmes concerned.

As the University Core Requirement Courses are compulsory, except students of specified major programmes / students with alternative arrangements (listed in 3 below) and / or students who meet the requirements for exemption by attainment or by equivalence of courses, all Year 3 students* will be pre-assigned the following English language courses according to their Faculties.
* Students who failed / did not take the required Year 1 course (ELTU1001) and / or Year 2 Discipline/Faculty-specific English language course (or equivalent course) will not be pre-assigned the Year 3 compulsory course. They have to take the required course according to the advice of English Language Teaching Unit.

Students of English Programme will not be pre-assigned English for Arts Students II (ELTU3011) as its equivalent courses are included in their major curriculum.

Students of B.A.(English Studies) and B.Ed.(English Language Education) Co-terminal Double Degree Programme will not be pre-assigned English for Education Students II (ELTU3013). Students will take the course in their 4th year of attendance.

Students of MBChB will be pre-assigned English for MBChB Programme (ELTU3017) in either term. Faculty will handle course registration for the students.

Students of Social Work Programme will be pre-assigned Professional Communications for Social Workers (ELTU3412); arrangements will be made by Departments concerned.

Students of LLB Programme will not be pre-assigned Discipline/Faculty-specific English language course. Faculty will provide information to Registration and Examinations Section on course fulfillment.
