To: New Full-time Undergraduates admitted in 2019-20
Re: “Personal Information”, “My Academics” and “1st Term Course Enrolment” under CUSIS
May we extend our warm welcome to you in joining CUHK! Please take note of the following essential information before you register courses on 23 August (Friday).
1. “Personal Information” and “My Academics” under CUSIS
To ensure data accuracy, please review once again the records of name, addresses, emergency contact information under “Personal Information” of CUSIS, and to update them whenever necessary.
You may also enquire detailed academic information under “My Academics”, including your major programme, sub-plan/concentration (where applicable), study period, etc. All information is generated by system interface from the admission system. Please check the information carefully and seek advice from the Registration and Examinations Section (RES) if there are any discrepancies.
2. Teaching Timetable, mobile App "CUHK Student Class Timetable"
You may logon CUSIS and use one of the following system functions to enquire the information of the teaching timetable: (i) Class Search; (ii) Browse Course Catalog or (iii) Teaching Timetable by Subject/Department. By using “Teaching Timetable by Subject/Department”, you can also check course enrolment rules, add/drop consent, reserved quota, and even the remaining quotas during course enrolment processes. When you enquire ‘Language’ (i.e. language of instruction) under the teaching timetable, please pay attention to the following:
The language indicator “C#E” is used to indicate that the course is conducted in Cantonese but will change to English when there is any student who does not know Cantonese. Students should communicate with the course teaching staff concerned if they have difficulty in understanding the language used in the class. The language of instruction may be changed from that indicated in the timetable subject to a unanimous consent of students enrolled in the course by a secret ballot conducted after the add/drop period.
Besides, Information Technology Services Centre (ITSC) has developed a mobile App “CUHK Student Class Timetable” for checking the classroom locations after you have completed course registration. This App can be downloaded at CUHK Mobile App Store: https://campusapps.itsc.cuhk.edu.hk/store/login.aspx.
3. 1st Term Course Enrolment under CUSIS (23 August)
Please follow the procedures as announced under “Information on First term Course Registration and Add/Drop 2019-20 for New Students” posted under RES homepage (http://www.res.cuhk.edu.hk/) and pay special attention to the following dates:
i. ‘Plan’ and ‘Validate’ starting from 16 August
New students may start using ‘Plan’ and ‘Validate’ under CUSIS on 16 August to pre-select the courses they wish to enroll.
ii. Enquire pre-assigned classes under ‘My Class Schedule’ on 21 August
Pre-assigned courses will be uploaded under “My Class Schedule” of CUSIS by 21 August, e.g. College Assembly, compulsory College General Education courses, classes pre-assigned by departments, and required Chinese or English courses.
For detailed information of College Assembly and the arrangements of College General Education courses, please refer to respective Colleges’ websites.
4. Some important points to note:
i. Always check Major, Minor, and other University requirements under on-line Student Handbook
Students may use the ‘Academic Advisement’ system under CUSIS to monitor their own academic progress and check their course fulfillment for graduation requirements. Besides, students should also refer to the study schemes of Major, Minor (if applicable), and also other University requirements stipulated under the on-line Undergraduate Student Handbook available at the homepage of the Academic and Quality Section of the Registry (http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/aqs).
ii. Students on the wait list under CUSIS
Students on the wait list will enroll automatically up to the new quota of the class whenever the quota is increased, or when the quota is freed up by students who have dropped the class, subject to fulfillment of course enrolment rules and with no timetable clashes. Therefore, students MUST check their updated course enrolment under “My Class Schedule” on a daily basis, and MUST remove their name on their own from the wait list if they do not intend to enroll in the class concerned.
iii. Smart Tips from ITSC
- Each student should only make a single logon to CUSIS for course enrolment via MyCUHK (http://portal.cuhk.edu.hk). ITSC may take action against any students who purposely write computer scripts for course enrolment or have multiple logins.
- CUSIS will timeout after it has been idle for 20 minutes.
- Check CUSIS client workstation hardware & software requirement at http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/cusis/com/cusis-PCrequirement.pdf.
- OnePass password should be kept in strict confidence and should never be shared with others, since this password and the student ID number will enable others access to all personal and academic information kept in the student record system of the University. Please change your OnePass password on a periodic basis.

6. e-Communication from RES
